➤ JB Moundélé, French saxophonist passionate about Africa and its music, has accompanied numerous artists, including Tiken Jah Fakoly, for a decade.
➤ Born Jean-Baptiste Dobiecki in Créteil, he takes his stage name from the Congolese expression moundele ndombi (“the Black White”).
➤ He bases his musical approach on instinct and spontaneity, rejecting stylistic boundaries.
➤ Strongly influenced by jazz and its figures (Weather Report, David Sanborn, Grover Washington Jr, Kenny Garrett, John Coltrane), he blends Afro-Cuban, jazz, funk, gospel, and African rhythms.
➤ His first contact with Africa in 2000, during a festival in Cameroon, was a revelation that shaped his musical universe.
➤ Author of three albums – Suites Africaines, Fanka bi na, and Révélation – he mixes fusion jazz with collaborations alongside African artists (Beta Simon, Hadja Kouyaté, Adama Condé, Kandia Cora, Kouadio Briscard, …).
➤ Based between Paris and Abidjan, he performs at numerous festivals and clubs, embodying a free, borderless jazz.
