Daehoon Kim, born in Busan (South Korea), grew up in a family of opera artists, which led him very early toward music.
He began studying the saxophone under the guidance of Dae-woo Kim, before continuing his studies with Yeonjeong Lee at Chung-Ang University, where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree.
He then pursued advanced studies in Europe at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where he was admitted to the class of Vincent David and earned his Master’s degree, while also benefiting from the teaching of Alain Crepin and Pieter Pellens. He further completed his training through the AISS.
Throughout his career, Daehoon Kim has participated in numerous international masterclasses with leading saxophone figures such as Arno Bornkamp, Timothy McAllister, Nobuya Sugawa, Philippe Geiss, Nikita Zimin, Amit Dubester, and Yo Matsushita.
His talent was quickly recognised through numerous first prizes in prestigious competitions, including:

➤ Music Education Newspaper Competition
➤ Seoul Royal Symphony Orchestra Competition
Selected as the 43rd Kumho Young Artist, he made his debut at the Kumho Art Hall in Seoul.
In 2021, he was also honoured as Busan Musician of the Year at the Busan MARU International Music Festival.
After returning to Korea, he began an active solo career, giving recitals and concerts in major venues such as the Seoul Arts Center, Lotte Concert Hall, Busan Cultural Center, Ulsan Cultural Center, and Pohang Cultural Center.
His activity also extends internationally, notably with recitals at the Shandong Concert Hall (China) in 2024.

At the same time, Daehoon Kim maintains a strong activity in chamber music.
He is the soprano saxophonist and leader of the Oneway Saxophone Ensemble, actively contributing to the expansion of the saxophone ensemble repertoire.
He is also a member of the Ilbangtonghaeng Saxophone Ensemble and the SFK.
Deeply committed to pedagogical transmission, he gives masterclasses, notably at the Shandong University of the Arts (China), and currently teaches at:

➤ Changwon National University
➤ Sookmyung Women’s University
He also teaches in several secondary schools, including Dongeui Technical High School, Yeongdo Jeil Middle School, and Logos International Christian School.
Daehoon Kim is an official Henri Selmer Paris Artist and JLV Sound Paris Artist, partners he represents on national and international stages with constant artistic commitment.
