Virginie Fontaine – Saxophonist and Educator
In 2008, after obtaining a gold medal and a First Prize in advanced saxophone studies at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Départemental de Roubaix in the class of Mr. Joël Batteau, Virginie passed the competitive exam to become an Artistic Teaching Assistant in Saxophone.
Passionate about transmission and pedagogy, she is regularly invited to serve on juries and participate in educational events focused on the saxophone. She currently teaches at the CRD of Calais as well as at the Audruicq School of Music.
A Rich and Varied Musical Journey
An eclectic musician, Virginie explores different musical styles within several ensembles:
➤ Wind orchestras: Coups de Vents Wind Orchestra, Consertio, Voltige.
➤ Big Band du Boulonnais, where she delves into jazz.
➤ Intimate formations: Le Collectif Sax, the Calamus reed orchestra, and her quartet “Sax à Main”.
She is regularly invited as a guest soloist by harmonic and symphonic orchestras in the Nord/Pas-de-Calais region, sharing her passion for music with diverse audiences.
Stage and Artistic Collaborations
Her talent has allowed her to participate in various major musical projects:
➤ As a musician on Anne Ducros’ album, she also performed during its promotion at La Cigale.
➤ She has performed at the Théâtre du Châtelet for the show “L'Art et la Révolte” by rapper Abd Al Malik.
