Originally from Martinique, Jean-Philippe Meyniac discovered the saxophone at the age of twelve, inspired by his grandmother, Mamie Tilo.
He took his first musical steps at the Le Diapason Music School in Trinité, under the guidance of Joël Littorie, then continued at the Lycée de Bellevue in the music program with Mme Bellance.
Eager to perfect his art, he joined the prestigious American School of Modern Music in Paris, where he studied for four years and developed a strong command of jazz language and contemporary music.
Building on this experience, Jean-Philippe collaborated with several kompa bands before returning to Martinique in 2015.
Since then, he has flourished in diverse musical worlds and shared the stage with numerous renowned artists: Kali, Tanya Saint-Val, Jacob Desvarieux, Simon Jurad, Wanazik, Jocelyne Béroard, Kassav’, Tony Chasseur, and Ben l’Oncle Soul.
