THE BIOGRAPHY OF HANFENG DU
Born in 1989, this Chinese saxophonist is the artistic director of the Golden Saxophone International Competition and holds a doctorate in music education.
Winner of numerous competitions since his teenage years, he led an award-winning quintet at the Asian Jazz Festival and served as captain of the Chinese Air Force.
Today, he organizes festivals and masterclasses in China while continuing his artistic and academic activities internationally.
➤ Artistic Director of the Golden Saxophone International Competition, graduate of the Wuhan Conservatory and the Odessa Ushinsky National Pedagogical University (saxophone), holder of a Ph.D. in Theory and Method of Music Education under the supervision of Anna Stepanova.
➤ Jury member of the “Breath” Competition (Russia) and President of the “Yie Yue” Artistic Organization, actively organizing music festivals and masterclasses in China.
➤ Born on November 7, 1989, he began the saxophone at the age of 12 and, at 14, won First Prize at the National Wind Instrument Competition for Young Performers.
➤ Admitted to the Wuhan Conservatory at 17 with the highest grades, he developed a passion for jazz, directed a conservatory ensemble, and at 19, founded a saxophone quintet that won First Prize at the Asian Jazz Festival.
➤ At 21, he served in the Chinese Air Force as captain and military bandleader, participating in the 60th Anniversary Parade of Chinese Aviation and receiving the Presidential Medal of Honor.
➤ Co-organizer of the International Competition of Young Performers “Golden Saxophone” (Ukraine) and actively engaged in doctoral studies at the Odessa Ushinsky National Pedagogical University.
