THE BIOGRAPHY OF PHILIPPE GEISS
Philippe Geiss, internationally renowned saxophonist and composer, stands out with a repertoire ranging from classical music to improvised music.
Winner of prestigious awards and professor in several institutions in France and Japan, he is also vice-president of the International Saxophone Committee.
His album Galaxsax, dedicated to Thomas Pesquet, brings together major names from the global music scene.

➤ Winner of the Best Stage Music Award at the Avignon Festival, the Académie du Disque Français Prize, and the Musique Prize of the Académie Rhénane, he is a recognized composer whose catalog – from solo works to symphonic repertoire – is published by Billaudot, Robert Martin, and Leduc.
➤ Professor at the Conservatoire of Strasbourg and the Académie Supérieure de Musique de Strasbourg / Haute École des Arts du Rhin, he is also a guest professor at the Senzoku Gakuen College in Tokyo and a member of the scientific committee of the LabEx GREAM (University of Strasbourg).
➤ Vice-president of the International Saxophone Committee, he served as the artistic director of SaxOpen – XVIIᵉ World Saxophone Congress & Festival in Strasbourg (2015).
➤ His latest album Galaxsax (Nomadmusic), dedicated to astronaut Thomas Pesquet, features prestigious guests such as Vincent David, Marija Aupy, Lars Mlekusch, Branford Marsalis, Barry Cockcroft, and the US Navy Band.
