Seokjun Yang, a Korean saxophonist, is praised by the most influential critics, composers, and conductors in his country.
Winner of the 1st Prize at the Korean Music Association Competition, the most prestigious saxophone competition in Korea, he has distinguished himself in numerous other national and international competitions.
In 2018, he was unanimously selected by the jury of the Kumho Young Artist Audition, giving his first recital at the Kumho Art Hall.
During his final year of undergraduate studies, he was chosen as the best wind instrumentalist of his university, representing his section at an official concert.
On the recommendation of the dean, he was invited to perform at the Chosun Media “Debut” concert, becoming the first saxophonist in 84 years to receive the title of “Rookie of the Year.”
Seokjun Yang has performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including the US Navy Band International Saxophone Symposium, the North American Saxophone Alliance, and the Asian Saxophone Congress.
A graduate of Hanyang University, he earned a Master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati, where he is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA). He studied under Brandon Jinwoo Choi, Wonki Lee, Yoonseok Lee, and James Bunte.
