Benjamin Chalat – Saxophonist, Educator, and Composer
Benjamin Chalat is a versatile artist: saxophonist, teacher, conductor, composer, and arranger. Holder of the national diploma in saxophone, he also holds two master’s degrees in musicology and in arts practice.
A Path of Musical Excellence
He trained at the Strasbourg Regional Conservatory, studying saxophone with Christophe Fourmaux, Michaël Alizon, and Philippe Geiss. He furthered his skills at the Roubaix Departmental Conservatory, specializing in baritone saxophone under Joël Batteau (Jean-Yves Fourmeau Quartet).
An Innovative Educator and Committed Conductor
Through his teaching experience in national schools, Benjamin Chalat developed a pedagogy based on group work and collective practice. He is the founder and director of the Hauts-de-France Regional Saxophone Orchestra, a dynamic ensemble highlighting the richness of the saxophone repertoire.
He is particularly committed to musical heritage and has created a repertoire of classical, traditional, and popular music, notably in collaboration with opera singer Bobae Kim, creating an original dialogue between opera and saxophone.
A Creator of Innovative Artistic Projects
As artistic director of the ECHO association, he leads several ensembles:

➤ The Moon Trio, merging French and Korean music
➤ The Moon Project, incorporating Human Beatbox
He also composes and writes shows for conservatories and music schools, blending music, staging, choreography, infographics, and videos to promote dialogue between the arts.
Humanitarian Engagement and International Collaborations
A member of Rotary International, Benjamin Chalat is active in philanthropy, organizing charity concerts for humanitarian and social causes. He collaborates with French and international artists, organizing masterclasses and concerts with renowned musicians.
Ambassador and Artistic Partnerships
Benjamin Chalat is supported by YAMAHA and D’ADDARIO and contributes to the development of the JLV Sound ligature, Lépine Prize winner, of which he is an official ambassador.
