Comfortable in the music of Monteverdi as well as that of Berio, Andrew Gaffey is quickly establishing himself as a well-rounded saxophonist and a highly appreciated teacher.
His career has taken him throughout the United States and abroad, with notable appearances at the Darmstädter Ferienkurse, the Cleveland Institute of Music, Indiana University, Indiana State University, and the University of Central Arkansas.
A passionate advocate for contemporary creation, Andrew collaborates actively with numerous composers.
He has recently premiered works by:

He is also the saxophonist of the Illinois Modern Ensemble and was a founding member of the Vanderbilt Contemporary Music Ensemble, marking his sustained commitment to today’s music.

On the pedagogical side, Andrew Gaffey currently teaches at Illinois Wesleyan University.

He is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Illinois, where he is a teaching assistant in saxophone and has been named a University Fellow.
