Born into a family of musicians, Joakim Ciesla began the saxophone in the suburbs of Lyon before joining the Conservatoire de Lyon. Winner of 1st Prize at the Nantes International Saxophone Competition in 2012, he was admitted in 2014 to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP) in the class of Claude Delangle.
There, he successfully obtained the Master in Saxophone and the Master in Chamber Music, both awarded unanimously, as well as the Diplôme d’État.
He is currently pursuing the Certificat d’Aptitude to perfect his pedagogical expertise.
An International and Innovative Career
A musician rooted in his time, Joakim participates in numerous creations, performances, and concerts with the Zahir Quartet (baritone saxophone), Les Chanteurs d’Oiseaux, as well as within prestigious ensembles such as:

Founding member of the Zahir Quartet, Joakim Ciesla has been recognized with several prestigious awards:
➤ 1st Prize at the 9th Osaka International Chamber Music Competition (Japan, 2017)
➤ Gold Medals at the Manhattan, Vienna, and Berliner International Music Competitions (2019)
Curious and passionate about artistic innovation, he joined in 2014 the Collectif de l’Autre Moitié, with which he created the musical tales Halb l’autre moitié and Loin de Garbo.
The latter received the Grand Prix of the Académie Charles Cros in 2018.
Pedagogy and Support
Also a committed pedagogue, Joakim teaches saxophone at the 13th and 16th arrondissement Conservatories of Paris. Since 2017, he has received support from prestigious foundations:
