THE BIOGRAPHY OF MARIANO GARCIA

Mariano García, an internationally renowned saxophonist and pedagogue, combines virtuosity, sensitivity, and artistic rigor.
A professor at the Esmuc (Barcelona) and at the European Saxophone University, he trains numerous musicians around the world.
A Selmer and Vandoren artist, he stands out for his commitment to teaching, creation, and the dissemination of contemporary repertoire.

 Passionate about performance and pedagogy, Mariano García is a saxophonist recognized on the international scene. He currently teaches the Master’s degree in Performance at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (Esmuc – Barcelona), and takes part in the European Saxophone University during the summer courses in Gap (France).

  

From 2009 to 2020, he was a professor at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón (CSMA – Zaragoza), before teaching at the Luca School of Music in Leuven (Belgium) and at the Wiener Musik Akademie (Vienna), from 2018 to 2023.

  

Invited as a guest artist by many international universities and conservatories, he has given masterclasses and concerts at the Eastman School of Music (Rochester, NY), the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, the Birmingham School of Music, the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler (Berlin), the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz (Cologne), and the University of Ljubljana. He has also led advanced courses in China, Poland, Mexico, Italy, and since 2022, he has been teaching at the International Music Course of Benidorm.

  

Mariano García is regularly a jury member of the most prestigious international saxophone competitions, such as the Dinant Sax Competition, the Andorra Sax Fest, or the Temsig Slovenia.

  

Since 2015, he has collaborated with the Musethica project, as a teacher and soloist, with which he has given more than 50 concerts, both solo and with the Grupo Enigma, the chamber orchestra of the Auditorium of Zaragoza.

  

In 2010, he founded the AniMa DUO with pianist Aniana Jaime, with whom he has recorded several acclaimed albums:

➤ Ritmo en el Espacio (Delicias Discográficas, 2015) – contemporary Spanish creations

 
➤ Hommage (IBS, 2020) – recent works and dedications by major composers

 
➤ L’Éveil d’AniMa (2025) – compilation of previous albums, including an unreleased recording of a work by Vincent David

  

At the same time, he has taken part in several recordings expanding the saxophone repertoire, notably the Saxophone Concerto by Kevin Houben, as well as works by Jesús Villa-Rojo and Agustín Charles.

 

A Selmer Paris and Vandoren artist, Mariano García embodies a generation of musicians both virtuoso, committed, and open to the world, combining innovation, artistic rigor, and transmission.
