Born in Foggia in 1998, Marco MANCINI earned his Bachelor’s degree in Musical Disciplines – Saxophone with 110 e lode at the Conservatorio “Umberto Giordano” in Foggia, Rodi Garganico branch, under M° Roberto Vagnini.
He continued his studies at the Conservatorio “N. Piccinni” in Bari, where he also obtained his Master’s degree with 110 e lode, under M° Valter Nicodemi.
In 2012, he won 1st prize in the Fiati category at the Torneo Internazionale di Musica (TIM) in Paris.
Since then, he has received numerous national and international distinctions, including at the “Luigi Nono” (Venaria Reale), “Curci” (Barletta), “Concorso Nazionale di Esecuzione Musicale” (Riccione), “Premio Niccolò Piccinni” (Bari), “V. Martina” (Massafra), “D. Sarro” (Trani), “A. Zinetti” (Sanguinetto), “Giulio Rospigliosi” (Lamporecchio), “A.M.A. Calabria” (Lamezia Terme), “Mirabello in Musica” (Mirabello Sannitico), and “Rovere d’Oro” (San Bartolomeo al Mare). He also received a special mention from the Società Umanitaria (2012–2014) in Milan.
His career has taken him to prestigious venues, such as Teatro Petruzzelli (Bari), Teatro Van Westerhout (Mola di Bari), Istituto Pontificio di Musica Sacra (Rome), concerts of the “Amici della Musica” (Foggia and Lucera), Società Umanitaria (Milan), Accademia Filarmonica (Rome), Istituto Francese (Naples), and the Tempietto Festival (Rome).
In December 2012, he performed at the RAI as part of the review of young talents from Italian conservatories.
As a soloist, he performed the Concertino da camera by Jacques Ibert with the Orchestra of the Conservatorio “Umberto Giordano” and collaborated with numerous ensembles.
He perfected his craft with world-renowned masters, including Jean-Marie Londeix, Eugene Rousseau, Mario Marzi, Jean-Yves Formeau, Arno Bornkamp, Claude Delangle, and O. Murphy.
He also won 1st prize at the 17th International Music Competition “City of Chieri”, where he performed the world premiere of a new concerto by Andrea Damiano Cotti with the Orchestra Sinfonietta Città di Chieri.
In 2022, he recorded for the Da Vinci Classics label the complete works for solo saxophone by the Australian composer Barry Cockcroft.
