Manuel Mondéjar Amat, born on February 21, 2002, in Elda, Alicante, began his saxophone studies at the age of 8 at A.M.C.E. Santa Cecilia Music School in Elda, under the guidance of his father, Manuel Mondéjar Criado.
He continued his training at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música “Ana María Sánchez” in Elda, where in 2020 he received the Extraordinary Prize in professional music education, under the direction of José Carlos Luján and José Antonio Antón Suay.
He then joined the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Murcia “Manuel Massotti Littel”, where he perfected his skills with Antonio García Jorge and David Pons Grau, graduating with Cum Laude honors.
In parallel, he attended numerous masterclasses with internationally renowned saxophonists such as Vincent David, Arno Bornkamp, Nicolas Arsenijevic, Christophe Bois, Eva Van Grinsven, Peter Vigh, Ángel Soria, and Mariano García.
A prizewinner in many competitions, Manuel was a finalist in 2017 at the XXVI Concurso de Jóvenes Intérpretes Ruperto Chapí in Villena and won the same year the Jóvenes Intérpretes de la Llosa de Ranes competition.
In 2018, he received the Rotary Club Scholarship after winning the Música Viva competition in Elda.
In 2023, he won the CSMM Soloists Competition and received an honorable mention at the XXXVIII Young Soloists Competition organized by the Sociedad de Conciertos de Alicante. That same year, he achieved 1st prize ex æquo at the Pedro Bote International Competition and participated in the Ciclo de Jóvenes Solistas de Murcia.
In 2024, he was again distinguished, winning 2nd place at the Mediterranean Sax Competition in the Advanced and Master categories.
Since 2021, Manuel has been a founding member of the Makridal Quartet, which has received several prestigious awards:
1st prize at the XIII National Chamber Music Competition of Albox,
1st prize at the CSMM Chamber Music Competition,
1st prize at the International Chamber Music Competition of Albacete,
Several 2nd prizes at the Mediterranean Sax Point, the Villa de Cox Competition, and the International “Antón García Abril” Competition.
As a soloist, Manuel has performed with the Murcia Regional Symphony Orchestra, the CSMM Orchestra, and the Teatro Castelar Orchestra, and has collaborated with the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra.
Starting in 2025, he will pursue a Master in Performance at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, under the guidance of the renowned saxophonist Vincent David.
