Javier Linares is a Spanish saxophonist who combines tradition and avant-garde, offering interpretations where deep emotion and technical mastery intertwine.
He began music with his father and later pursued his studies at the Conservatories of Cádiz and Seville, graduating with highest honors and unanimous distinction.
Committed to continuous improvement, he trained with renowned masters such as Claude Delangle, Vincent David, Arno Bornkamp, and Johan van der Linden, earning a Master’s degree in Musical Performance (Outstanding Cum Laude) as well as a Master’s degree in Musical Research.
A Yamaha and Henri Selmer Paris scholarship recipient, he has collaborated with Nobuya Sugawa and Claude Delangle.
As a soloist, he has premiered numerous works and performed with some of Spain’s greatest orchestras (Madrid Symphony Orchestra, Royal Seville Orchestra, OSCYL, ORCAM) at prestigious festivals and concert halls across Spain (National Auditorium, Palau de la Música Catalana, Teatro de la Maestranza) and Europe (Genoa, Rome, Ljubljana). He has also recorded for RNE, Radio Clásica, RTVCM, and RTVE.
A passionate chamber musician, he is co-founder of the Tetraktys Quartet, Duo Ilíberis, and Duo Farben, exploring the sonic boundaries of the saxophone. Since 2018, he has been an Henri Selmer Paris and Vandoren artist.
Professionally, he served for over ten years as principal saxophonist within the musical units of the Spanish Ministry of Defense, including the General Air Command and the "Inmemorial del Rey Nº1" Infantry Regiment.
Today, he is a tenured professor of saxophone at the Royal Conservatory of Music "Victoria Eugenia" of Granada.
