Philippe Lecocq is an iconic figure of the saxophone in France. He holds a Premier Prix in Saxophone from the CNSM Paris in the class of Daniel Deffayet, and the Certificat d’Aptitude (C.A.) in saxophone pedagogy since June 1985.
He served as a professor at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional (CRR) of Toulouse from 1988 to 2017 and has taught chamber music at the Institut Supérieur des Arts (isdaT) of Toulouse since 1995.
A founding member of the Diastema Quartet since 1986, he performs worldwide (France, Spain, Switzerland, England, USA, Japan, China) and contributes to numerous contemporary creations, recording eight albums distributed by Naxos and Harmonia Mundi.
In parallel, he is a solo saxophonist for the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse since 1990, participating in numerous international tours and producing five CDs and a DVD.
His approach combines orchestral tradition and the French saxophone school, giving his teaching a unique and highly sought-after character.
